Habitat For Humanity Women's Build

Habitat for Humanity CroppedLiberty Savings Bank recently continued its commitment to the local community and to Habitat for Humanity.  After donating equipment and money earlier this year to help Habitat for Humanity reach its goals, now volunteers from Liberty Savings Bank donated their time to support the Habitat for Humanity South County Women's Build 2014. This year’s build continues a long tradition of Habitat Sarasota working to improve the lives of Sarasota County residents. Since 1985 Habitat Sarasota has built more than 200 homes in Sarasota County, greatly improving the lives of hundreds in the process.

Volunteers learned how to hang sheet rock and completed 90% of the ceilings for this home on Thursday Oct. 9th 2014 along with a skilled team of Habitat volunteers.

Danielle Bachar, Financial Center Manager at the Square South Financial Center, had nothing but praise for Habitat for Humanity, “What Habitat does for the community is admirable; we were thrilled to be a part of this project.  What a truly wonderful organization to work hand in hand with!”

The 3rd Annual MidTown Manatee Mix & Mingle was a great success at promoting growth of the MidTown area. Businesses and the public all enjoyed great food and entertainment while getting to know all the opportunities the MidTown area has to offer. Liberty Savings Bank was proud to help sponsor the event and looks forward to many more to come.

Liberty Savings Bank Donates To Habitat For Humanity

In June, 2014, Liberty Savings Bank donated 43 personal computers and monitors along with $4,500 to benefit the low to moderate income partner families served by Habitat For Humanity of South Sarasota.Habitat For Humanity

Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota Co., Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a better community, one house at a time.

Habitat for Humanity offers the dream of home ownership to those who would otherwise not be able to afford a home of their own. The new homeowners actually help to build the house alongside many dedicated volunteers in the community. Habitat sells the house to the homeowner at cost and finances the mortgage at zero interest.

Habitat provides capital, not charity. It creates a stable environment for children, safe and communal neighborhoods that work and grow together. Local churches, businesses, individuals, foundations and civic organizations work together in our community to make this dream come true.

Laurel Nokomis School is "Running Wild"

Liberty Savings Bank was proud to help sponsor Laurel Nokomis School’s "Running Wild" Run-A-Thon event on Friday, February 22nd. Laurel Nokomis School has been a Golden School Award winner for the past 24 years and is ranked in the top 10 percent of all elementary and middle combinations schools in the State of Florida. Sandy Perrine, Financial Center Manager II of the Jacaranda Office, was there to deliver Liberty Savings Bank Piggy Bank key chains and to help count all the money raised.

Sandy said, "The day was beautiful and it was great to see all the parents supporting their kids." Liberty Savings Bank was pleased to provide prizes to every child that raised $5.00 for the event. The children who were able to raise $100.00 were invited to an Ice Cream Sundae Party, which they loved!

The event was a rousing success that raised nearly $18,000.00 for the school thanks to the many donors and volunteers!

Forget Me Not Gala raises $100,000 for local charity

Forget Me Not Gala

On Saturday, February 9, Liberty Savings Bank was the official bank for Cat Depot’s Forget Me Not Gala fundraiser at the Laurel Oak Country Club. Cat Depot is a non-profit organization that has provided shelter, rehabilitation and adoption services for cats in Sarasota County for 10 years.

For the past three years Liberty Savings Bank has provided a team of volunteers to support this local charity. Danielle Bachar and Karen Kurtzweil from the Square South Office and District Manager Barbara Cain volunteered this year. From 6 PM until 11 PM our volunteers collected donations, sold raffle tickets and processed payments for winners of the silent and live auctions.

Thanks to the many donors, auction winners, and volunteers, this year's Forget Me Not Gala was able to raise $100,000 to help fund Cat Depot’s continuing mission.
